There is something unforgettable about Foster's traditional New England clambakes. Maybe it's the atmosphere which can only be described as pure, unadulterated fun. Laugher, singing, impromptu dancing or maybe it's the food. Fosters traditional New England clambake is served with award-winning clam chowder. Steamers bursting with flavor. Then it is off to Newburyport, MA where we will board the Yankee Clipper. This tour is a narrated tour of historic Newburyport Harbor , the Merrimack River, and the Great Salt Marsh, and their local 25,000 acre ecological treasure!
Your voyage will take you through 12,000 years of natural history, from the birth of the Great Marsh at the end of the last ice age through the European colonization and economic boom of the area during America ’s Industrial Revolution, and into the 21st century. You’ll meet the resident wildlife of the area, including harbor seals, hawks, great blue herons, egrets, diving cormorants, and maybe even deer and bald eagles! Your captain and crew will weave together the natural, economic and maritime history with the ecological significance of one of New England ’s most beautiful and scenic coastal jewels! Escape the summer heat with a soft drink while you take in the summer breeze!
After the cruise, you will have free time to explore the village of Newburyport, the Water front Park and the Inn Street Pedestrian Mall. Here, one can discover the excitement of Newburyport's seafaring days and explore the many quaint shops, eleven buildings on the National Register of historic places, art galleries, Newburyport Maritime Museum and resturants. All are within walking distance from the dock.
